The Eastern Wall
Some scholars involved in the limited exchange of knowledge between the two sides of the bay, due a lack of solid information, believe the Eastern Wall of the Veshadiin must be much like the Western Wall: Solid, sheltering, a welcome haven against danger. This sort of speculation has contributed heavily to the eastern belief that western scholars are utterly incompetent.
The Eastern Wall marks the beginning of the Screaming Wastes, the vast, lifeless desert north of the struggling kingdoms of the eastern bay. Sand and hot wind blast forth from its sealed gates, and travelers have noted that their food spoils more quickly and their water evaporates within sealed containers if they get too near to the gate. Early expeditions by boat reveal that this effect is limited to the outside of the wall; no such difficulties exist on the Veshadiin side. This has led many scholars to speculate the the Veshadiin created the wastes for some reason, though the theory that it was to limit human expansion fell out of favor after contact with the Republic of Chara.
