The Scaled Ones
That a race of scaled humanoids once existed is still a matter of much debate in the cites Chara, Remera, and Sobrin. The frontier areas in all three, close to the Kuvaldi, and the nation of Mikash, do not see any need to debate what is obviously true. Bipdal, lizard-like forms are carved on the walls of many of the Stranger’s desert temples in Mikash, and Horus disclosed some information about them before the Strangers vanished again. The information was very limited, and has mostly served to allow the Mikashi to identify the territories the Scaled Ones once occupied.
This territory corresponds almost exactly to the lands currently held by the Kuvaldi tribes. The great temples in their lands have long confused their neighbors, as they seem far beyond the Kuvaldi ability to build. They are not similar in structure or material to the temples of the Strangers; the only similarities are in decoration, as they depict both the same lizard-like humanoids and the Strangers themselves – at least, as far as has been seem from the few, temporary captures of Kuvaldi temples. The tribes are surprisingly fierce about reclaiming them, and have twice rallied enough soldiers to reclaim one that they pushed the Remerans well behind their own borders.
Little is actually determinable from these depictions; they had advanced metalworking techniques, evidenced by depictions of chain-mail. They were a highly structured society, as symbols of rank are always clearly depicted, and many images show the proper ways to interact between classes. They were presumably skilled in magic, given the temples they have left behind; some in Mikash suggest that further evidence may be found in the strange, demon-summoning magic of the Kuvaldi, which they must have gotten from somewhere, after all.
