Yonalin, The Eastern Gate
Yonalin has the distinction of being the easternmost solid land known to any living species; even the elves long-ranging ships have not found land east of the peninsula Yonalin claims as its territory. This is, sadly, the only positive distinction the land can claim, as it is otherwise the smallest, poorest, weakest, least advanced, unhealthiest, and generally most awful of all the human nations of the bay. It can barely call itself a nation; it has had no central authority in almost two thousand years that lasted more than a generation.
The city of Yonalin itself might pass for a provincial government center in the western bay, if a rather dull and impoverished one. No monuments or temples can be found in the capital; it has changed hands half a thousand times, and the conquerors have left nothing for their foes to be remembered by. If the city – or indeed the nation it rules – had any resources worth the trouble, it would long ago have been conquered by its neighbors. Sadly, the country is too poor to even hope for that.
